Topic: Workflow Testing: 10 Scenarios to be Covered by Testers for Seamless Implementation
Abstract Description: Business Process Management (BPM) is an important domain in software products and solutions fraternity. The business processes which might be handled on paper-trail, or by using fragmented tools like emails are increasingly being replaced by custom workflow development. The development can be carried out either by utilizing a range of BPM tools available or on top of base technologies from scratch. The workflows, however straightforward they seem, come up with nuances of their own. The testing of the workflows must cover such nitty-gritty to have a seamless implementation.
As an extract of my decade-plus-long experience of analysing and implementing process-rich ERPs and BPM solutions, I have listed down 10 scenarios that need to be covered by testers while testing workflows. If testers include these scenarios in their test plan and execute them well, the future implementation in the production can be seamless by negating the chances of defects arising out of practicality to business processes.
